               Oxytetracycline Hydrochloride Injection

Description:

Yellow to amber solution.

Oxytetracycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic with bacteriostatic action against a large number of gram-positive and gram-negative organisms. The bacteriostatic effect is based on the inhibition of the synthesis of bacterial proteins.

Indications:

In the treatment of a wide range of common systemic, respiratory and local infections caused by or associated with organisms sensitive to Oxytetracycline in cattle, sheep and pigs.

Dosage and Administration:

By intramuscular injection.

The dose of oxytetracycline injection ranges from 5mg to 10mg per kilo of body weight of the animal according to the severity, mode and type of infection.
The dose of oxytetracycline injection 10mg per kilo of body weight is for the treatment of acute and chronic infections and should be continued twice daily for 3 to 5 days.

Contraindications:

-Hypersensitivity to tetracyclines.

-Administration to animals with a serious impaired renal and/or liver function.

-Concurrent administration with penicillins, cephalosporines, quinolones and cycloserine.

Side Effects:

-After intramuscular administration local reactions can occur, which disappear in a few days.

-Discoloration of teeth in young animals.

-Hypersensitivity reactions.

Withdrawal time:

Meat:  28 days;  milk 5 days.
